How Long You Are Without the Door
We're honest about this part: we work out of Farmington, which is about 17 miles from South St. Paul, so there's no same-day drop-in for a quick look. If your existing opener dies and the door won't move, that's a door that sits closed (or open) until a scheduled visit. Plan the install around that distance rather than assuming a tech can swing by on short notice. Once we're on site, the opener swap itself is usually a half-day job unless the header or track needs rework for the reasons above. We'd rather tell you the real number up front than promise a response time we can't hold to from this far out.
Booking a Visit
Because we're traveling in from Farmington, we book opener installs in South St. Paul as scheduled appointments, not drop-ins. It helps to know the rough age of your door and garage before we come - a house from the 1957 era with original framing needs a different look than a garage that's been rebuilt or widened since. If you're not sure, a couple of photos of the inside of the garage, including the header above the door and the track mounts, save a trip back for measurements. You can see what we cover from Farmington on the coverage page, and if this isn't the service you need, the general opener installation page for Farmington covers the broader job.
Parts We Carry
We carry standard chain and belt-drive opener units and the mounting hardware that covers most of what shows up on 1980s-2000s doors across the wider service area. What we don't keep on the truck is custom bracket stock sized for 1950s header depths - that's a limitation, not a sales pitch, and on an older South St. Paul garage it sometimes means a short return trip once we've measured the actual opening. We'd rather order the right bracket than force a fit that strips out in six months. If your garage has been updated to a standard sectional door already, none of this applies and the install is routine.
